The design of China Pavilion for Expo 2020 was unveiled Wednesday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Ni Jian, the Chinese ambassador to the UAE, said in a speech at the inauguration ceremony that the design of the China Pavilion shows Chinese traditional culture and modern innovation spirits. Its ideas are "advanced and comprehensive."

He added that the pavilion will focus on the theme of "Building a community with a shared future for humanity -- Innovation and Opportunity," displaying China's latest innovative achievements in the fields of science, information and communication technology.

Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, executive director of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said China is UAE's largest trading partner. The China Pavilion for Expo 2020 will be a window to showcase Chinese culture.

Ruan Wei, director of Expo Affairs of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, gave an update on China's participation progress and presented the design of the China Pavilion.

Covering an area of 4,636 square meters, the China Pavilion will be one of the largest pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai, said Ruan.

The China Pavilion will symbolize hope and a bright future and vividly showcase China's profound culture and longstanding history by artistically integrating the Chinese elements with modern technologies, he added.

Expo 2020 Dubai will run from Oct. 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021. It will be the first World Expo held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region and is expected to receive around 25 million visits. A total of 190 countries have confirmed their participation in the expo.
