Cangjie Temple

The Cangjie Temple was built over 2000 years ago to commemorate Cangjie, an ancient Chinese mythical figure who is credited with having invented Chinese characters about 5,000 years ago. It is located in Baishui county, Shaanxi's Weinan city.

It was said that the Heaven was moved by Cangjie's feast and rewarded him with a "Grain Rain" or "Rain of Millet" (Guyu) in Chinese. The Guyu then became the sixth of the 24 solar terms in the traditional lunar calendar, the day when farmers start sowing.
