More art performances needed at tourist attractions, ministry says
The ministry encourages art performances to be enhanced at tourist attractions so to give tourists a better travel experience, according to a newly released guideline by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in late March.
In the last five years, art performances at attractions have developed at a rather fast pace. The number of art shows increased from 187 in 2013 to 268 in 2017, with attendance numbers rising from 27.89 million to 68.21 million during the same time period.
Revenue from total ticket sales saw a sharp increase of 128 percent from 2.26 billion yuan ($336 million) in 2013 to 5.15 billion yuan in 2017.
However, the guideline states that art performances at tourist attractions are still short in supply.
According to the guideline, companies can enjoy tax reliefs if they have investments in high-tech components. Also, companies are encouraged to transform abandoned mines and wastelands into venues for hosting art performance projects.
