A house collapse triggered by a landslide in North China's Shanxi Province on Friday has left 12 people dead and another eight missing, local authorities said Monday.
A rescue team, after over two days' work, has now made way for heavy rescue equipment to continue the search.
To avoid further injuring people buried in debris, the rescue team used equipment to clean the collapsed buildings, while maintaining contact with the families of those missing to confirm their identities and target their locations.
Of the 79 people in the area when the landslide occurred, 46 made their way out of the danger zone by themselves.
Thirteen were rescued, according to local authorities.
