Former provincial political advisor prosecuted for taking bribes

BEIJING - A former provincial political advisor has been indicted for taking bribes, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) Monday.

Wang Erzhi, former vice chairman of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was charged with abusing his positions to seek profit for others and accepting a large amount of money and property in return, according to an SPP statement.

The case was investigated by the National Supervisory Commission before being transferred to the Municipal People's Procuratorate of Harbin for review and prosecution. The procuratorate filed the case in the Harbin Municipal Intermediate People's Court.

The SPP said the prosecutors had informed the defendant of his litigation rights, interrogated him and listened to the defense counsel's opinions.
