TEHRAN - Japan's Ambassador to Tehran Mitsugu Saito said that Japanese businessmen will continue their trade with Iran despite the US sanctions against the Islamic republic, Tehran Times daily reported on Thursday.

The Japanese companies have preserved their businesses with Iran over the past months despite the US sanctions pressures, the ambassador said in a meeting with Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati.

"Japan will continue economic relations with Iran according to its own interests," he was quoted as saying.

Mitsugu Saito said that an Iranian banking delegation will soon visit Tokyo.
