China, Portugal media will have more joint reporting missions

The All China Journalists Association and Portuguese Press Association signed the Road & Belt Agreement on Journalist Cooperation and Exchange in Lisbon on Monday, laying what is believed to be an important cornerstone for upgrading collaboration between media outlets in both countries.

Visiting All China Journalists Association Executive Secretary Wang Dongmei and PPA Chairman Joao Palmeiro signed the document on behalf of their respective institutions, expressing the shared belief that the move will further boost media collaboration between their countries.

According to the agreement, the two countries will enhance cooperation through exchanging visits by press delegations, carrying out joint reporting missions, holding professional symposiums, and offering professional training programs.

Wang said the agreement will greatly facilitate cooperation not only between media outlets in both countries, but will prove instrumental in upgrading the overall China-Portugal partnership - a partnership that, in her words, is already both diverse and fruitful.

"It is particularly significant for the agreement's coincidence with the 40th anniversary of our countries' diplomatic relationship," Wang said.

Palmeiro, who is in favor of greater Chinese presence in the global media field, spoke highly of the agreement, saying contributions in cooperation between Chinese and Portuguese media outlets will extend beyond journalism into various other realms.

The agreement is the 32nd the All China Journalists Association has signed with foreign counterparts under the Belt & Road framework in a bid to promote international mutual understanding and cross-culture communication.
