Pu Xinyu's (1896-1963) reputation as an artist and connoisseur is often compared to his contemporary Zhang Daqian.
And this comparison is evident from the way they were referred to -- "Pu of the North (of China) and Zhang of the South" -- in the first half of the 20th century.
