Advanced technology applied in security measures in and around schools
Shanghai will enhance its application of advanced technology to bolster security in and around schools, according to a campus security meeting held on Feb 15, just days before the school term begins.
According to local news portal Shanghai Observer, efforts will be focused on leveraging video surveillance in public areas, AI facial recognition and technologies that can sense temperature and smoke to detect potential threats in key zones such as school entrances, exits and canteens.
The city will also strengthen its monitoring of small- and medium-sized hotels and areas around schools. This includes cracking down on illegal entertainment venues.
The enhanced security measures also extend to greater supervision of food safety at canteens in schools and restaurants situated in the surrounding areas.
