SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir - At least 12 paramilitary troopers belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and 12 others wounded on Thursday after an improvised explosive device (IED) hit their convoy in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The attack was carried out on the national highway near Lethpora village in Pulwama district, about 27 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

"Militants today at 3:15 pm local time triggered an IED blast targeting CRPF convoy here," a police official posted told Xinhua.

"We are being told 12 CRPF men were killed and 12 others left wounded in the attack. We will share complete details after completing the rescue work."
