Former Jilin official charged with bribery, corruption
Former deputy head of the Jilin provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection Qiu Daming was charged with bribery and corruption by the Shijiazhuang People's Procuratorate in North China's Hebei province, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said in a statement on Tuesday.
Qiu, also former deputy head of the Jilin provincial supervisory commission, is being prosecuted for making use of his job positions to seek benefits for others in return for huge amounts of property and illegally gaining large amounts of public property, according to the statement.
From 2001 to 2018, he served as deputy director of the Jilin provincial Audit Department; head of Liaoyuan Commission for Discipline Inspection in Jilin; and deputy head of the Jilin provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the provincial Supervisory Commission.
The case will be heard by the Shijiazhuang Municipal Intermediate People's Court.
In December, Qiu was expelled from the Party and removed from public office for serious violations of Party discipline and the law, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a joint statement in December.
Qiu, one of the leading cadres in the provincial Discipline Inspection Department, lost his ideals, faith and political consciousness, and turned the power of supervision and enforcement into a tool for advancing personal interests, according to the statement.
