ISTANBUL -- At least 54 people were poisoned on Monday in a gas leak at a courthouse in northwestern Turkey.
The leak happened at the courthouse in the province of Balikesir when the extinguisher cylinders, which are used to put out fires, discharged carbon monoxide for no reason, said Balikesir Governor Ersin Yazici.
Of the wounded, four are in critical condition, according to the governor.
The courthouse was evacuated following the incident, while technical teams started to investigate the cause of the leak, the NTV broadcaster said.
