Clinic head detained for giving wrong vaccine

SHIJIAZHUANG - Wei Jingli, the head of a community clinic in Shijiazhuang, capital of Northern China's Hebei province, has been detained after a staff member at the clinic mistakenly gave the wrong vaccine to a child, local authorities said Friday.
The child was mistakenly given a HIB vaccine instead of a pentavalent vaccine, said Qiaoxi district government of Shijiazhuang, adding that the child and other children will be checked and screened to ensure no other similar incidents have happened.
Two officials with the district's center for disease control have been fired and are under investigation for any malfeasance.
