Shanghai legislators will focus on improving the business environment through law revisions and legislation research in 2019, said the municipal congress on Tuesday.

According to the work report by Yin Yicui, director of the Standing Committee of Shanghai People's Congress, the congress will accelerate legislation research for the rules on foreign investment and patent protection and revise the rules for the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

In addition, legislators will create regulations for the city's development of an innovation center and review the government's report on the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region. These efforts are all related to the three key tasks for the municipal government in 2019.

The standing committee will also conduct inspections on the enforcement of social credit system regulations and ensure the implementation of the measures to boost real economies and vitalize the private sectors, said Yin.

Last year, the committee revised 14 rules regarding administrative approvals to make them easier for business operation.
