Beijing plans to upgrade 100 villages as a demonstration project in three to five years to create a better rural landscape, a senior official with the capital said on Thursday.
The city completed 1,081 village environmental tasks in 2018 with an expanding forest area of more than 920 square meters, said Li Sufang, deputy head of the Beijing Development and Reform Commission.
She said more than 5,200 public toilets had been included in governmental management.
The region also completed going coal-free in 2018, she added.
