One of the greatest things about fashion is that, when you get old enough, things just come back in style again.

If recent runways and street-style shots are any indication, tie-dye is back, fashion insiders!

When we think of tie-dye, most of us envision exaggerated rainbow swirls worn for special occasions like hippie festivals or to the beach in the form of cover-ups.

Originally, tie-dye was founded on ancient resist-dyeing techniques and peaked in the 1960s and 1970s, becoming emblems of the unorthodox lifestyles of the period. From protestors to idealists, the freedom ideals were radically embodied through the display of the untraditional and "inappropriate" clothing.

But tie-dye, in fact, can be so much more. And it has already infiltrated high fashion runways and celebrity street style. The colors are extending to more sophisticated hues and the patterns are more intricate. Its current popularity may be thanks to its versatility.

Here are some fashion looks for your reference, providing you with new excuses to add more color to your wardrobe.
