Citizens and tourists gathered at Yonghe Temple in Beijing to receive Laba porridge on Sunday.

It was the eighth day of the 12th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, and Yonghe Temple opened to the public free of charge and distributed the porridge to mark the occasion.

Many people braved the cold weather to "eat porridge for blessings", and it’s reported that Yonghe Temple made a total of 98 pots, with more than 8,500 people attending.
