Publicity officials must give priority to studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to innovate in their work styles and better fulfill their missions, a senior Communist Party of China official said on Monday.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a national meeting of publicity department heads of the Party committees held in Beijing.

He urged the publicity officials to understand discourses of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, on ideological and publicity work, saying that Xi's relevant thoughts are guidelines for them to do their publicity work well.

Wang stressed the importance of the Party's political construction in the training of publicity personnel and officials, and said full Party leadership must be exercised over the nation's ideological and publicity work.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

Huang underlined holding high the banner of new era thought in order to better perform publicity and ideological work.

He urged the publicity officials to improve their innovation as they engage in international communication so as to present a true, multidimensional and panoramic view of China to the world.
