Ancient fortress offers unique view after snow

The Jiayuguan Pass in northwestern China's Gansu province has been turned into a winter wonderland after a snowfall on Monday.

As the first frontier fortress at the west end of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) Great Wall, the pass was built in the early years of the dynasty and is now the most intact among the military passes along the Great Wall. It was a key point on the ancient Silk Road.
