Nansha Wetland Park: A paradise of birds

Nansha Wetland Park, located at the mouth of the Pearl River in Guangzhou, provincial capital of Guangdong province, has been chosen as one of the 10 best destinations to watch birds in Guangdong, according to the Provincial Department of Forestry.

More than 100,000 migratory birds have arrived in the park since the beginning of December, making it a must-visit scenic spot to watch wild birds in the southern province in winter, statistics from the department showed.

The migratory birds in Nansha Wetland Park include the rare species of white spoonbills, black-winged long-legged snipes and the black-face spoonbills that have become an endangered species in the world.

With the improvement of the local environment, Nansha Wetland Park that covers an area of more than 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares) has now become an ideal destination for myriad of migratory birds from north to spend winter days, the department said.
