BRI promotes China-Turkey relationship | Updated: 2018-12-25 10:01

China's Belt and Road Initiative is a connectivity and people-to-people interactions project, said Emin Önen, Turkish Ambassador to China, during an interview with China Daily and SASAC News Center.

China is currently Turkey's second biggest trade partner.

Önen said the relation between the two countries is getting better and better and expressed his willingness to see more Chinese companies invest in his country and those who have already invested to increase their budgets and investment ratios.

During the interview, the ambassador mentioned that the infrastructure projects in fields of energy, transport and communication are important components of the BRI and benefit the countries involved.

He used as an example the construction of high-speed rail lines which brings great convenience and opportunities for large numbers of people and cities along their routes.

The ambassador also mentioned that tourism is an important tool for increasing China-Turkey relations and invited more Chinese people to visit Turkey.

Finally, education and cultural activities were also referenced as ways to promote the two countries' relationship.
