In a training class for girls in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, the teacher reportedly told the girls, "When your husband beats you on the left face, give him your right face. When he insults you, accept the insults. Whatever he does, you can never divorce." And, "If you change your boyfriend, you will suffer from ulcers on all four limbs-In the end you have to saw them off." Beijing News comments:

This is not the first "training class" of its kind. There were reports of one that was similarly absurd in Fushun, Northeast China's Liaoning province.

It is hard to imagine such ridiculous things exist in 2018. Worse, reports show that most of the "trainees" at the "training class" are between five and 18 years old; most are still in their secondary even primary schools. What they should learn are the values of the modern world, namely equality and mutual courtesy, not some zombified thinking that dates back 3,000 years.

Even if one or two of the kids receiving such "training" believe what they were told, that would be disastrous because they might in turn spread the value to their children. If too many kids accept what such "training" offers them, that would be disastrous for the whole society and ruin a whole generation, even generations to come.

Unconfirmed news said that the Wenzhou "training class" is a branch of the previous Liaoning one, although the latter has already been cracked down on by local authorities because they spread values contrary to the law. It is good that the authorities in Wenzhou have already taken quick measures to put a stop to such nonsense.

The worry is, there is clearly demand for this rubbish. Therefore, it is necessary to educate parents, too, about gender equality so that they won't pass on their gender biases and prejudices to their children.
