Police have detained a sixth-grade student on suspicion of stabbing his 34-year-old mother to death in Yuanjiang, Central China’s Hunan province.
Early investigations suggest the boy, identified only as Wu, carried out the knife attack around 9 pm on Sunday in revenge for his mother beating him, local authorities said via social media on Monday.
Police found the body of the victim, surnamed Chen, in her bedroom at 12:24 pm on Monday after receiving a report from a neighbor. She had multiple stab wounds.
