Guangzhou to hold large-scale convention in Dec to attract more talent
To attract more overseas talent and local students with foreign university degrees to work in China, the Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talent will open in South China's Guangzhou city for two days beginning Dec 21.
Officials estimate more than 3,500 overseas talent to attend the convention.
"A total of about 50,000 people will participate in the convention, with nearly 3,500 of whom are overseas talent," said Huang Yuanfei, an official with Guangzhou's human resource and social security department, at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
"The overseas talent will include Nobel Prize winners, famous experts and academicians, high-level personnel of major companies, and outstanding overseas students," he said.
Some delegates from universities and academic institutes, investors, and recruitment agencies in China will also attend the large-scale talent exchange platform, Huang said.
Some activities such as job fairs, forums on high-end talent and science, and meetings on innovation and startup business will be held at the convention, according to a news release by the convention's organizing committee.
The convention is jointly organized by several agencies including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Guangzhou city government.
