In the harvest season, villagers in Jishan county, North China's Shanxi province, are busy making dried persimmons.

A series of recent photos revealed that almost every household grows the fruit and processes them into snacks, serving as important source of income.

The delicacy, which is popular across the country, has a long history of preparation.

In Zhongwangyin village, farmers place persimmons outdoors. The dried fruit will become sweeter after exposure to sunshine for two to three weeks. [Photo by Yang Dexin for chinadaily.com.cn]
