Beijing will begin construction of 19 urban "forests" by the end of this year to ensure each district will have at least one green space for residents, according to the Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau on Tuesday.
For example, the urban "forest" will allow residents in the city's downtown – within the Second Ring Road - to take a walk through a green space. Currently, Beijing has four urban "forests" in Dongcheng and Xicheng districts in the city's central area.
Each new "forest" will cover no less than 10,000 square meters, according to the bureau.
