5.3-magnitude earthquake rocks Japan's Chiba prefecture

TOKYO - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 rocked Japan's Chiba prefecture at 1:15 pm local time, Japan Meteorological Agency said Friday.
The temblor was centered in the northeastern part of the Chiba prefecture in eastern Japan, with the epicenter at a latitude of 35.7 degrees north and a longitude of 140.7 degrees east and at depth of 50 km.
The earthquake logged 4 in some areas of Chiba prefecture and 2 in Tokyo on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.
So far no major damage or injuries were reported, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
