Li calls for greater effort on innovation

Premier Li Keqiang called on Tuesday for greater efforts to implement the innovation-driven development strategy and push mass entrepreneurship and innovation forward.

He made the remark in an instruction to the opening ceremony of the 2018 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week, in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

Mass innovation and entrepreneurship activities are flourishing with the concerted efforts of various parties, and have played a positive role in unleashing the country's innovative potential, stimulating market vitality and expanding employment, Li said.

The weeklong event will be held in different parts of the country, with its main venue in Chengdu.

In Beijing's Haidian district, the Zhongguancun Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival, part of the event, kicked off in the Zhongguancun Science Park on Tuesday. The festival runs through Oct 15.
