Wang said CMPak's investments in 4G will further increase and he expects the company to build 5,000 base stations in the next three years.

The advanced 4G technology also has helped promote the development of relevant industries. "We've collaborated with popular ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem to facilitate transportation for people," Wang noted, citing traffic benefits as an example.

Given the worldwide attention today on emerging 5G technology, Wang said his company has started to get involved, but the Pakistani government has not released a clear timetable for plans to issue a 5G spectrum.

Talking about future, Wang is confident that CMPak still has great potential to grow under the support of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a key part of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the company's 20 years of experience in technology development, operation management and marketing. "We hope to make full use of these skills and our local experience here," he said.
