With the aim of promoting communications and cooperation between young entrepreneurs from East China's Zhejiang province and Hong Kong, the 2018 Zhejiang and Hong Kong Young Entrepreneurs Forum took place in Hangzhou on Sept 20.

The forum, themed on inheritance and innovation, attracted over 80 young entrepreneurs from both sides to discuss the shared opportunities and seek joint development.

Witman Hung, director of Wit's Technology (HK) Company Limited, explained that young people in Hong Kong have a global vision while their peers in Zhejiang are pioneers in innovation. He believed if they team up, the friendship will be further cemented and the economic and cultural exchanges between the two regions will be deepened.

In terms of innovation, Tang Chung-man, director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai, thought the achievements Zhejiang has made in all fields are worth learning from.

She suggested science and technology companies of both sides combine the advantages of Zhejiang in e-commerce, information data and smart cities, as well as Hong Kong's advantages in intellectual property, international networking and information flow, to boost cooperation between the two regions.

Hong Kong, an international center in finance, trade and shipping, plays an important role in Zhejiang's blueprint for further opening-up. With strong support from the Zhejiang and Hong Kong governments, the two regions have seen an enhancement in mutual economic and trading exchanges and cooperation in recent years.

Hu Weikang, deputy director of Zhejiang's commerce department, said that in 2017, the trade value between Zhejiang and Hong Kong hit $3.7 billion and Hong Kong became the province's largest source of external investment and its largest destination of outbound investment.

Hu pledged that Zhejiang will build a more open, more orderly and fairer business environment for Hong Kong entrepreneurs to engage in the province's transformation and quality development.
