Guangdong fair focuses on rural tourism
A special tourism exchange and fair designed to boost rural tourism and the rural economy was held in Yunfu, a city in the mountains of western Guangdong province over the weekend.
Yuan Huoyue, head of the Xinxing county government, said rural areas in the city and county, with their fresh air and beautiful scenery, had great potential for the development of rural tourism, which was an effective way to boost the rural economy.
"The tourism resources are rich and we should spare no efforts to promote rural tourism in the months to come," Yuan said. "In addition to relevant government departments, the masses — farmers and residents — in rural areas should actively participate in promoting rural tourism events to attract more urban residents to tour rural areas."
