Charity fair to focus on poverty alleviation
The 6th China Charity Fair, with the theme "focusing on targeted poverty alleviation, creating a pleasant life", will kick off in Shenzhen on Thursday.
This year's event will feature exhibitions, roadshows, salons and other activities aimed at promoting philanthropy in China.
The organizers of the annual fair said that 789 organizations will take part, with 876 projects and 312 types of consumer products to be showcased.
The fair, with an exhibition area of 37,000 square meters, will also feature 15 information publishing events, six conferences, 36 roadshows and 12 salons.
"We hope the event can serve as three platforms - a platform for motivating social forces, a platform for connecting poverty-reduction-related projects and the public, and a platform for promoting philanthropic culture," an official with the organizing committee, Ling Chong, said.
"Shenzhen is a city of philanthropy. Therefore, holding the event in Shenzhen has special significance. People can learn more about philanthropic culture and take part in more charitable projects through the event."
The three-day fair is organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Guangdong provincial government, Shenzhen municipal government and the China Charity Alliance.
