On Thursday morning, Chinese and Russian troops simulated an "anti-invasion war" at the Tsugol training range in Russia’s Trans-Baikal region.
The exercise is part of the "Vostok-2018" strategic drills. In the playbook, the Chinese forces and their Russian counterparts are cooperating in a counterattack after enemy invasion.
The two countries' ground and air forces jointly practice three stages of classic warfare: the mechanized defense, fire strike and counterattack.
In the past, most China-Russia joint military drills focused on anti-terrorism. However, in "Vostok-2018" the two armies focus on striking traditional threats.
