China-Mongolia Media Forum concludes

The 9th China-Mongolia Media Forum was held in southern Mongolia's Umnugobi province on Sept 7.

More than 200 media representatives and numerous officials from China and Mongolia attended the event.

With a theme of "Media participation in China's Belt and Road Initiative and a new era of bilateral cooperation", the forum focused on the consensus reached by the leaders of China and Mongolia, the two countries’ bilateral relationship, common development and cooperative projects.

Attendees discussed topics of common interest, such as the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and the developments and achievements of China and Mongolia's modern media industry. They reached a broad consensus and signed specific cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding.

The forum was hosted by Kharkhuu Mandakhbayar, chairman of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists. He expressed his sincere pleasure at the successful holding of this year's forum in Mongolia's Umnugobi province, and expressed his gratitude to distinguished guests, media representatives and journalists in attendance.

He said that the forum helped create favorable conditions for exchanges and cooperation between the news media and journalists of the two countries, and also completed important groundwork for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia.

Mongolian Foreign Minister Damdin Tsogtbaatar also spoke at the forum. He said that the Mongolian government attached great importance to the holding of the China-Mongolia Media Forum and hoped that the business exchanges and friendly cooperation between the media of the two countries could provide a solid public opinion foundation for deepening mutual understanding and friendship, as well as expanding cooperation.

Addressing the forum, Ling Li, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs and Promotion Bureau of China's State Council Information Office, expressed his admiration for media representatives and people from all walks of life who have committed themselves to promoting the Sino-Mongolian relationship.

He added that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners.

As China enters a new era, it will unswervingly promote the building of a community of human destiny, and promote the deep integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and "Development Road" strategy.

China will continue to expand the two countries' exchanges and cooperation in trade, education, science and technology, and culture and tourism, while jointly building the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. While realizing its own development, China will also benefit Mongolia and give people a greater sense of prosperity.

He pointed out that this year is the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. Over the past 40 years, China’s economic and social outlook has undergone tremendous changes, and the living standards of Chinese people have been greatly enhanced.

In the course of reform and opening up, and especially since the 18th CPC National Congress, China has put forward important ideas and measures for reform and development, including new development concepts, supply-side structural reform, high-quality development, and built a modern economic system.

He said that the media is the bridge and link for people of the two countries to enhance their understanding. The development of China-Mongolia relations in the new era requires contributions from the media in both countries.

He put forward three suggestions – deepen cooperation and mutual trust, strengthen coordination and cooperation on major issues, and continuously expand the results of pragmatic cooperation.

He expressed his hopes that the media of the two countries could work together with a strong desire for a mutually-beneficial situation, continuously deepen cooperation and mutual trust, enhance the emotional bond between China and Mongolia, and strive to create a new pattern of media cooperation.

N. Naranbaatar, governor of Umnugobi province, said that the news media of the two countries has an important role in promoting and consolidating friendly and cooperative relations between Mongolia and China.

The successful holding of the forum provided favorable conditions for Mongolia and China to promote Umnugobi province and further expand and deepen regional cooperation between the two countries.

Zhou Chunjie, deputy head of the Publicity Department of Inner Mongolia, said in his speech that time is the greatest writer. In recent years, with the changes in the international situation, relations between China and Mongolia have developed in a healthy and stable manner.

The media workers of the two countries have always gone with the tide of the development of Sino-Mongolian relations, consciously assumed the media responsibility to promote mutual friendship, and actively conveyed the positive energy of public opinion.

Enkhtoya, vice-chairman of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists, read a letter from the Mongolian prime minister, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh at the forum.

He said that news media has always been one of the most important bridges among countries and peoples for mutual understanding.

He expressed his view that through the close cooperation of the media of the two countries, mutual understanding and mutual trust will be deepened, and friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two peoples will be further consolidated.

Wang Dongmei, secretary of the All-China Journalists Association, said that the China-Mongolia Media Forum is important in the field of humanities exchanges between the two countries and injects new vitality into the development of the China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership.

She added that the China Association of Journalists is willing to use the forum as a platform to lay a solid foundation for public opinion and build a solid foundation for society under the Belt and Road Initiative together with the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists.

The forum was supported by China's State Council Information Office and co-organized by the All-China Journalists Association, the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists and the Information Office of the Government of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The China-Mongolia Media Forum is an annual event which has been held since 2010. It remains an important platform for media exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
