The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), the first of its kind in the country and a major force in research on philosophy and social sciences, held a ceremony on Friday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its founding.

"The SASS must always uphold the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and promote the construction of a national-level high-end think tank in order to make a greater contribution to realizing the city's goal of building itself into an international economic, financial, shipping and trade center as well as a technology innovation hub with global influence," Li said in the letter.
"It should also make greater contributions to realizing the country's two centennial goals and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he said.
Zhang Daogen, president of the SASS, said that in the past six decades, the academy has cultivated influential experts and scholars in various social aspects and produced massively significant research achievements. It has also served as an important platform for domestic and international academic exchanges.
