Sanya scenic spots debut in Hollywood blockbuster

The Meg, a megalodon-shark thriller movie that stars Jason Statham and Li Bingbing, hit cinema screens around the globe on Aug 10.

Co-produced by Chinese and American moviemaking teams, the film's conclusion, set in the spectacular Sanya resort area, has attracted a great many viewers' attention.

The city's tourist attractions, like the 180-m-high Bodhisattva statue and crowded Sanya Bay, appear on-screen and suggest the area as a tourist destination.

According to Chen Wenwu from the Sanya Nanshan Scenic Spot, the film was shot in Sanya two years ago. Helicopters and drones were used to display the beautiful tropical scenes and magnificent Bodhisattva statue.

The Hainan Islands have abundant tourism resources. They are a good destination for international tourists and moviemaker. The movie is a landmark in the development process of Sanya tourism as of its producers chose the city as its main location.

Zheng Conghui, vice president of The End of the Earth (Tianya-Haijiao) tourist spot, said that the release of the movie will give a boost to Sanya's tourism industry. After all, hundreds of millions of people all over the world will possibly see the film.
