Devotees celebrate festival in Lhasa

Two giant Buddha images are on display in Lhasa's Drepung and Sera monasteries to mark the 30th day of the sixth month, which fell on Aug 11, according to Tibetan calendar, and was celebrated during the annual Shoton or Yogurt Festival, of Lhasa, in the Tibet autonomous region. Thousands of pilgrims and many tourists paid their visits to the sites. The gala will last for seven days, and it will be followed by Tibetan opera shows, hiking, picnics, and other events.
