Meizhou official found hanged at home

A senior official was found hanged at his home in Meizhou, in southern China's Guangdong province, at midnight on Monday, the city's information office confirmed via its WeChat account on Tuesday.
Peng Yaoxin, 56, was unconscious when police arrived at his home in Meijiang district in response to a call from neighbors. He was pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital.
An investigation ruled out the possibility of homicide, police said.
Peng, born in May 1962, was a member of the leadership group of the Meizhou committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Until last month, Peng, who had worked in Meizhou for decades, had also been the city's deputy Party secretary and head of the Meizhou committee of the Communist Party of China's politics and law committee since November 2016.
