Chinese culinary ritual exhibited at UK Sunday brunch
Hakkasan celebrates the ancient Chinese culinary ritual of dim sum with Dim Sum Sundays. Dim sum means 'touching the heart' in Cantonese, and the tradition, also known as yum cha, has developed over hundreds of years, with its roots in providing sustenance and facilitating rest and conversation.
Tong Chee Hwee, executive head chef at Hakkasan, said "The UK has a Sunday brunch or Sunday roast culture, so Hakkasan celebrates the ancient Chinese culinary ritual of dim sum with Dim Sum Sundays."
"'Always crafting a better experience' is the underlying force behind our business," Tong explained. "Dim Sum Sunday engages with the unique elements of our personality - calmness, tranquility and humility are translated into a simple, elegant, vibrant experience that is true to our Chinese roots."
