ULAN BATOR -- Multiple areas in Mongolia suffered power outages Wednesday evening due to strong winds and downpours, the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Thursday.
Ten administrative subdivisions in three provinces were affected, most of them in central-west. Operations were underway to restore electricity, NEMA said.
Some houses were flooded and the stranded villagers were transferred to emergency shelters.
Meteorologists forecast persistent heavy rainfall across large parts of the country until the end of July, warning people to take extra precautions against hazards.
