An economic and trade cooperation conference between Liaoning province in Northeast China and the Kansai region of Japan was held in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, on July 16.

Representatives from the political, economic, and business sectors of both sides attended the event.

Li Tianran, consul-general of China in Osaka, Japan, said that Liaoning has a solid industrial base and a long history of economic and trade cooperation with Japan.

Kansai is the leading region for economic and cultural development in Japan, and is highly developed in terms of equipment manufacturing and foreign trade, said Li.

Liaoning province and Kansai region have the potential to complement each other’s strengths and build strong economic ties, he added.

Investment and technology exchanges between the two will become increasingly important, especially in addressing issues such as an aging population and a polluted environment, according to the consul-general of Japan in Shenyang.

Representatives of businesses from both sides introduced their products and services at the conference, with the intention of finding new partners.

The delegation from Kansai will also visit Shenyang, Dalian, and Shenfu new district in Liaoning province from July 15 to 19.
