Nasi Padang was among the dishes featured in the 2018 Singapore Food Festival (SFF).

According to kompas.com, the popular dish was offered during the festival’s two-day outdoor event Streat last week.

The meals were brought by Singapore-based restaurant Sinar Pagi Nasi Padang, which was established in the 1960s.

The restaurant’s owner, Nasril Bin H Mohammad Nasir, said they offered three dishes, namely a chicken rendang set, fish fillet with sambal and tahu telur (a mix of tofu and egg).

Nasril, of Minang descent but born in Singapore, mentioned that he was invited by the organizer. Prior to the festival, the food was checked by the authority.

He said Singaporeans love Padang food, such as beef rendang, babat kalio (beef tripe cooked in light gravy), as well as red and green chilies.

However, Ratna, Nasril's wife, said Padang food in Singapore had been adjusted to suit the locals' preferences, particularly in sweetness and level of spiciness. (jes/wng)
