Central bank to issue commemorative coin for high-speed rail
The People's Bank of China, China's central bank, will issue a commemorative coin for the high-speed railway on Sept 3, according to a statement on its official website.
The coin, 27 millimeters in diameter, has a denomination of 10 yuan.
The bank will issue 200 million and set a limit for each person to buy 20 through reservation.
According to the statement, the head side has a national emblem in middle, with Chinese characters "The People's Republic of China" and "2018" on the top and bottom of the coin. The tail side is composed of the "Fuxing" high-speed bullet train, Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge, Beijing South Railway Station, mountains, terraces and desert. The Chinese characters for "Fuxing-China High-Speed Rail" are on the bottom.
The coin can circulate as currency, having the same value as a 10-yuan note.
