Political Bureau urges effective ways to select outstanding young officials

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee called on Friday for effective measures to select outstanding young officials, at a meeting to inject fresh vitality into the undertakings of the Party and the state.

The meeting, presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, reviewed a document on identifying and selecting outstanding young officials to meet the requirements of the new era.

The meeting stressed that identifying, training and selecting outstanding young officials is fundamental to strengthen the leadership of the Party and the team of competent officials, said a statement released after the meeting.

It is also a major strategic task concerning the qualified successor of the cause of the Party as well as the nation's longterm peace and stability, the statement added.

As China has entered a new era, it is crucially important for the Party and the state to build up a highquality force with professional skills, the meeting pointed out.

The meeting highlighted that building up a young and vitalized professional force should help improve the nation's governance system as well as promote the prosperity of the Party's undertakings, according to the statement.

Selection mechanisms should be improved to help rally outstanding people in the backbone forces of leadership to provide sufficient talent for the Party, the statement said.

The meeting urged Party committees at various levels to take responsibility for identifying, training and selecting young officials, which will be an important part of the performance evaluation of Party officials, the statement said.
