A handcuffed drug trafficking suspect who escaped from a court during a hearing reportedly visited a restaurant in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, Modern Express reported.

Ma Tingjiang, 33, fled by jumping from the court building on the morning of June 26. The local police announced a 50,000 yuan ($7,559) reward for information leading to his arrest.

In the evening of June 27, a man resembling the suspect was caught on a camera in a local restaurant. The photo shows the suspect in different clothes and his handcuffs were gone.

Responding to a story that went viral claiming that the fugitive suspect had robbed 2,000 yuan from a shop owner, the police termed it a rumor and asked people not to believe it.

The pursuit of the fugitive is underway.
