Zhejiang province in East China and the country of Zimbabwe in southern Africa are set to deepen business relations and seize the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, according to speeches made at a business forum held in Harare, capital of Zimbabwe, on June 11.

The China (Zhejiang)-Zimbabwe Business Forum, with the participation of more than 50 Zhejiang companies and some Zimbabwean businessmen, highlighted a series of achievements that have been made between Zhejiang and Zimbabwe in areas of foreign trade, tourism, manufacturing, finance and resource development.

As well both sides highlighting the progress already made, a total of 10 business deals worth over 1.18 billion yuan ($184 million) were inked at the forum.

Che Jun, Party secretary of Zhejiang province, and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa attended the forum and made keynote speeches.

A pioneer in China's reform and opening-up, Zhejiang will take the initiative to participate in the BRI and further cooperation with Zimbabwe, according to Che Jun.

Mnangagwa said that Zimbabwe welcomes Zhejiang companies to make investment and hoped that Zimbabwean companies can seize the opportunity of the forum to promote exchanges with Zhejiang counterparts.
