China would like to promote pragmatic cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in fields such as production capacity, connectivity and finance, Premier Li Keqiang said when meeting with the visiting Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on Thursday.

Jeenbekov is paying a state visit to China and is scheduled to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Qingdao Summit this weekend.

Over the past 26 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have achieved leaping development in their ties, as friendship-bound neighbors that have maintained mutual respect and the concept of win-win cooperation, Li said.

The comprehensive strategic partnership, declared by President Xi Jinping and Jeenbekov on Wednesday, will strongly promote the China-Kyrgyzstan relationship to a higher level, the premier said. Li said China is ready to work with the Central Asian neighbor in various fields for new cooperation achievements.

The two economies are highly complementary and have vast potential for further cooperation, Li said. He said China is willing to expand imports of high-quality agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan for balanced trade and will support competent Chinese enterprises to invest in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan is expected to offer convenience and guarantee, he said.

Li also hoped that both sides could enhance cooperation under the framework of the SCO while promoting regional economic cooperation.

Jeenbekov said China's made great achievements in reform and opening-up since 40 years ago, which he said have a positive and significant impact on the development of the world.

He said his country would like to align with China's development strategies and deepen cooperation in investment, processing industries, agriculture, new energy, transportation and sanitation, while expanding people-to-people exchanges.

Kyrgyzstan is willing to facilitate investments of Chinese enterprises to the Central Asian country, Jeenbekov added.
