Largest gathering of people dressed as mermaids

More than 400 mermaids and mermen gathered together on the South Beach pier on May 26 in an attempt to set a world record during a four-day celebration in the resort town of South Haven on Lake Michigan.

The goal was to create the world's largest gathering of people dressed as mermaids for a Guinness World Records official attempt, which requires a minimum of 300 people to set the record.

From 12-3 pm a variety of people dressed in mermaids costumes filled the pier at the South Haven Lighthouse.

Event organizers will submit evidence to the Guinness World Records in order to secure the title.
