18 foreign airlines fix website info violating one-China policy

Eighteen of the 44 foreign airlines that had been required to stop listing the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan as though they were independent countries have finished their rectifications, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said Friday.

The other 26 foreign airlines have promised to make the rectifications but applied for delayed implementation due to technical reasons. The earliest promised time for the completion of the rectifications is May 28 and the latest is July 25, the administration said in a statement.

On April 25, the administration required 44 foreign airlines to rectify their wrong practice of referring to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao as independent from China on their official websites before May 25, as such practice is a violation of Chinese laws and goes against the one-China policy.

The administration said Friday it will closely follow the airlines that have not yet finished the rectifications. It also promised to safeguard the legitimate rights of foreign airlines to offer transportation services in China.
