BEIJING - More than 22,000 pornography sites have been shut down this year in China, according to the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications on Thursday.
Over 1.75 million items were deleted in 390 cases.
The campaign this year has focused on major cases, the office said in a statement. More than 50 are currently being processed across the country.
Despite the progress in restraining the spread of pornography, it is still easy to find, harming the physical and mental health of juveniles, an official at the office noted.
Pornography must be dealt with as soon as it is spotted, said the official.
